Our son recently had surgery. We knew he would be okay, but knowing the pain involved (extreme) and the recovery time (3 months) left his mom and I apprehensive to say the least.
The pain my son is experiencing is short-lived but I am amazed by his strength and attitude as he struggles and achieves to re-learn the most basic things that we all take for granted each day (breathing, sitting up, standing, walking, going to the bathroom, etc.) without pain. I cannot imagine families who have loved ones where the pain never stops or never gets better. It is a lesson in humility.
